Learning and Living the Gospel - Choose the Right
This activity completed a Learning and Living the Gospel Requirement - Learn to sing “Choose the Right” (Hymns, no. 239). Explain what agency is and what it means to be responsible for your choices. Discuss how making good choices has helped you develop greater faith.
The Lyrics to the song Choose the Right were printed on 8 paper strips and taped around a container containing treats. The Girls would take turns pulling off a strip of paper and reading there 2 lines of lyrics. We discussed what each meant as we pulled them of and read/sang them. After removing all 8 strips of paper we sang the whole song and were able to open the jar to see what treat was inside. Hi-Chew's were in the jar to remind the girls to 'Chew's' the Right.

Articles of Faith
This activity completed 2 requirements. Preparing For Young Women - After studying the thirteenth article of faith, make a list of things that are uplifting and virtuous. Discuss with a parent or leader how you can seek after these things. AND Serving Others: Read the twelfth article of faith. Discuss what it means to be a good citizen and how your actions can affect others.
For this activity we made Article of Faith Cards for each girl to use as a study aid to memorize the 13 Articles of Faith which is also a requirement for the Faith in God Award. Each Article of Faith had an acronym to also help them study. The girls cut out the articles of faith and glued them onto a cute card stock then out them on a ring to keep them together. After making their cards we read the twelfth and thirteenth articles of Faith and discussed them.

Developing Talents - Healthy Lifestyles
This activity filled the requirement for Developing Talents - Learn about and practice good nutrition, good health, and good grooming, including modest dress.
We talked about how daily choices affect our health. A big duffel bag was filled with items that effect their healthy lifestyle. The bag was filled with items such as a Pillow, Blanket, Water, Deodorant, Granola Bars, Basketball, Tennis Shoes, Toothpaste, Body wash, and scriptures. The girls took turns pulling an item out of the bag and discussing its importance. After that we made an Ice Cream Sundae with each topping being a healthy lifestyle choice. After all the good toppings: banana, ice cream, caramel, chocolate, and whip cream; negative lifestyle choices were added to the sundae: dirt, Kitty Litter, mustard. We ended the activity with making GOOD healthy lifestyle Sundae's.
