Learning and Living the Gospel - Lehi's Dream

This activity focused on Lehi's dream from the Book of Mormon to pass of the Learning and Living the Gospel requirement: Tell a story from the Book of Mormon that teaches about faith in Jesus Christ. Share your testimony of the Savior.
 
The girls and their families were invited to this activity. We had Lehi's dream set up in the yard and acted out the dream. It was a lot of fun. We began the evening by singing 'The Iron Rod', and had an opening prayer. After that, 'scripts' were passed out and everyone was assigned a role to act out. We had the main Characters of the dream, Lehi and his family, and the 4 groups of people in the dream. Lehi's dream, found in 1 Nephi 8 was then read and we acted out what was being read. Since the activity was at night we had Christmas lights in a tree for the Tree of Life, and lights in the great and spacious building and the Iron Rod. The fruit on the tree were glow bracelets so everyone could partake of the 'fruit' and have a souvenir.  

After reading the dream we had a hot chocolate and warm apple cider bar and a fire to sit around and discuss the symbols in Lehi's Dream. The refreshments were all themed to match the symbols of the dream. 

The River: Hot Chocolate and warm Apple Cider 
Tree of Life: White Chocolate covered Spoons
The Iron Rod: Pepperidge Farms Piroutte (or Cinnamon Sticks)
The Great and Spacious Building: House shaped Sugar Cookies or cupcakes with Topper.
The Mist of Darkness: Mini Chocolate Chips 
The Fruit of the Tree: Crushed Peppermint Candy, Mini Marshmallows, and Whipped Topping

We discussed each symbol in the dream and the 4 groups of people in the dream. We challenged the girls to share their testimonies to complete the requirement. Elder Bednards talk on holding to the rod was referrenced in discussion of the symbols as well as the scriptures. 

The activity was a lot of fun and everyone did a great job acting and doing their parts. Thanks everyone for being AMAZING!
